LUNCH LADY BESTIES //
Tai Snaith
1 September 2016
This week’s bestie is one of my GIANT lady crushes. She’s so clever, inspiring and a giant spunk. I love watching everything Tai gets up to, ever since she bought a coffee at my cafe 11 years ago. Thanks for sharing with us Tai (check out her AMAZING kid’s books, my girls and I LOVE them to bits). x

LAST TIME YOUR HOUSE WAS CLEAN
Last time it was properly clean (all the windows, couch, the lot) was two weeks ago for the Melbourne Open House, we were invited to be part of the program and gave 3 tours of our house.
LAST THING YOUR KID SAID
The littlest one said something about a lazer attached to a ship in order to kill baddies, but not the baddies who might eventually turn into goodies.
LAST TIME YOU SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT
Last night! It’s been a hard 6 years though, believe me.
LAST TIME YOU WENT ON HOLIDAY
I went to Sydney for 5 days on my own last month. I was in an exhibition and just decided to stretch it out a bit. I’ll be doing that again! Really looking forward to mid September, we are going to Fiji.
LAST TIME YOU CRIED
Last night. A bad hangover turned into an emotional self-doubt fest. I’m ok now!
LAST TIME YOU IRONED
Seriously can’t even remember. Years.
LAST MUM WIN
Yesterday I was sorting through some old collages and I gave some that I didn’t want to Leo and he added paint onto them. He did one that I can’t even describe how much I love it. When I asked him about it he said ‘ It’s about a man in a dress inside a remote-controlled sun.’ That’s a win for sure.
LAST MUM FAIL
Last night… I found the only way to explain to my boys why I was crying was to say ‘Mummy doesn’t feel like a very good mum right now’ and my eldest son Leo replied to me ‘ You are the best mum I could ever imagine.’ So I guess it was both a win and fail.
LAST INSTAGRAM OR PODCAST FOLLOW
Vittoria Di Stefano, a wonderful Melbourne-based sculptor who I just discovered on instagram and then met in person at the Spring 1883 party.
LAST MEAL YOU ATE
Two tiny toasties made from brioche, my partner, Simon, got from the Vic Market, Simon’s home made pesto, prosciutto and gruyere cheese with some rocket and cos lettuce from my garden.
YOUR NO-FAIL-GO-TO RECIPE
I cook my made up un-named dish at least once a week. Everyone in my family loves it!
- I make lots of brown Koshikari rice in the rice cooker.
- Then cook onions, garlic and butter in a pan with a tablespoon of kasundi.
- Add half a butternut pumpkin cut into big pieces, a splash of apple juice and chicken stock.
- When it’s soft and cooked down a bit I add chicken pieces and coconut milk.
- When the chicken is cooked I add either broccoli or snow peas right at the end for a second and then serve it on the rice and sprinkle some cashews on top.
- Yummy and healthy.
